Wicker Park's Ice Skating Rink Needs Volunteers To Open For The Season

December 15, 2016 - The community-funded and run ice skating rink has been filled and is in the process of freezing in Wicker Park's namesake park located at 1425 N. Damen Avenue. The frigid temperatures are helping the ice freeze but they need volunteers before the rink can open up for skaters. Because this is a community effort and is not managed or funded by the City of Chicago, volunteers are needed to help in the set-up and maintenance of the ice skating rink throughout the 2016-2017 season.

In addition, ice skating will not be permitted until the rink has been frozen completely. Using the rink before this happens can damage the liner. So it's imperative to wait until the appropriate time. You can follow Wicker Ice on Facebook and Twitter for daily updates. Looking at the December forecast, however, it shouldn't be long.
